The Wilderness Program
Another thing that really made me interested in St Mike's is the Wilderness Program . The offer a huge variety of programs, the most exciting being a $30 season pass to Smuggler's Notch ! They even sponsor a bus that takes you there for free most weekends during the ski season. If you are just starting to ski or snowboard you can take a lesson for $15. Smuggs has plenty of trails and is only about 45 minutes away from campus. There are tons of great glades there and some great backcountry. You can even ski down the actual notch which I did for the first time this year. The terrain was a little more difficult than I am used to but it was an awesome experience! My idea of a perfect run at Smuggs The Wilderness Program also offers ice climbing, snowshoeing, telemark skiing, and backcountry skiing trips during the winter.
